Many Big Lottery Winners Remain on Food Stamps
Think Tank has found that many substantial lottery winners remain on food stamps. As many as 66,000 remain on food subsidies even after winning prizes that should have disqualified them from doing so. The Foundation for Government Accountability says states need to better police their food stamp programs to weed out abuse. Many states have failed to remove lottery winners after their wins rendered them unqualified for continued food assistance. This data is only from 13 states. Imagine how large the number would be if all 50 states participated in the survey?
